Hardness Notice

On Tuesday, September 22nd we attempted to repair a Multiport Valve in our Softening System at the Water Treatment Plant.

Due to unforseen circumstances during repairs, a delay has occured that will cause hard water to last through at least Oct. 6th. During this time, residents can expect to experience very hard water. We ask for your patience while we repair this part of our softening system to better soften the water for you.

Because of this issue, you could experience the following side effects:

  • Mineral Buildup around water fixtures
  • Soap scum on bathtub, curtains, or doors
  • Dry itchy skin
  • Dull scratchy clothing
  • Spots on dishes, flatware, and glasses

Please understand that this issue is temporarily and we anticipate to return to normal softening levels in about 1 week. We greatly apologize for any inconvenience this may causing you.

While the EPA does not require specific parameters for water hardness, we want to provide you with the best water possible. Please note the chart below. The hardness you can expect to experience during this time will range from 151 mg/L and above. Please know that our goal to stay around 90 mg/L, but during this repair we will be unable to soften the water at all.

General guidelines for classification of water hardness:

0 to 75 mg/L

76 to 150 mg/L

moderately hard

151 to 200 mg/L

>200 mg/L

very hard
